We were so excited to catch up with Cheer Sport Sharks in Toronto, CA recently in their gym. Our Executive Vice President of Design and Corporate Relations, Kelly McKeown spent some quality time with the team and got to watch a practice session during her visit. The team has been a long term GK Cheer customer and has loved the quality and fit of our cheer apparel for years.
In the photo to the left is Kelly with Cheer Sport owners, Alana, on the left and Ali on the right taking a break from practice in the Sharks gym. Alana Potter aka "Lan" has been part of the Sharks since they began when there were 30 kids on 2 teams. Alana remembers her proudest team moment, “Taking the time to look around to see what we've created, a family full of love and pride. Being able to watch my dreams come true everyday is something I will never take for granted!” Since 2003, Ali Moffatt has been a part of the Sharks dream. She recalls her proudest moment, “I am most proud of everything that this small dream has become, a second home for hundreds of young girls to learn, grow, work together and develop friendships that will last a lifetime. That is the legacy of the Cheer Sport Sharks, and I am fortunate to be able to re‑live that proudest moment every day of my life.”
The Sharks team has 3 gyms in Canada, this one being the largest. Three of their teams attend the Worlds competition and are well respected in Canada and throughout the world for their talent and athleticism.
We were so excited to design a custom cheerleading uniform for Cheer Sport. They chose a beautiful asymmetrical, strappy cheer crop top elaborately created in our Black DryTech, Rainforest and Silver Mystique fabrics. Their "Sharks" team name was added to the chest in Rainforest Mystique embroidery, and neatly outlined with Brilliance SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS and additional scattered crystals. A swirling, looping design twirls down the sleeves with highlighted jewels. The team added their maple leaf logo in these jewels to the back of the garment for an added touch of personality. A custom cheer skirt was designed to match in the same fabrics with a more simple side swirl pattern and Brilliance SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS accent for a touch of shine.
