Midwest Storm Cheer Makes a Statement with Ideal Sparkle

Midwest Storm Cheer in Saint Joseph, Missouri, is a new customer of GK this season.  Founded in September of 2008, MSC has learned a lot in their first couple of years of all star cheerleading.  Tara Embrey, Owner of MSC, tells the story of how they began.

"We had very limited resources, so we literally began as infants in the crazy world of all-star cheer.  The sport was barely known in our area, so the overall expense was overwhelming to the majority of our new parents.  We started practicing in an elementary school gym with approximately 6, 4x6 roll up mats. Our first competition was the first time most of our athletes had ever stepped foot on a spring floor.  By our 2nd season we were able to move into a 40x40 barn that had no air conditioning and no indoor plumbing for the first several months. We used a port-a-potty in the dead of winter just so we could practice in a large enough space with high ceilings!"

For the first two years, MSC's cheer uniforms were the "definition of old school" that they tried to make into the "sassiest uniforms in the cutest way they could," says Tara.  "I felt like the new kid trying to fit in at school.  Image was a big deal!  Because my gym is rooted in Christian morals, our beliefs are an important consideration when choosing uniforms.  I want our cheerleaders to feel awesome and confident when they hit the floor, but I don't want to compromise our ideals.  Staying true to ourselves & staying affordable for parents is a challenge."

This year, when Tara began her search for new uniforms, she drew on her competitive gymnastics background.  She had always been aware of the amazing, consistent quality of GK gymnastics products, but wasn't sure if her gym could afford GK cheer apparel.  Working with her GK Cheer Territory Area Manager, Kristin Libby, Tara quickly learned that GK could meet every one of her important needs making it a perfect fit for her gym.

MSC's full length cheerleading top is custom version of GK's Unique Web Back Cheer Top U141L, made mostly of White Heavyweight Nylon/Spandex and Electric Turquoise Mystique fabrics, featuring a square neck, banded long Black Mesh sleeves, open shoulders, and unique webbed back design for which they chose Black Slither fabric.  Their coordinating cheerleading shorts are GK's Wide Panel & Binding Regular Rise Short U505R made with coordinating Black Slither, White Nylon/Spandex, and Electric Turquoise Mystique fabrics.  Their cheer top sparkles with their MSC logo in Black Nylon Spandex applique, outlined with Electric Turquoise Mystique and covered in brilliance SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS which are also scattered over the Black Mesh sleeves.

Tara said, "We ended up with a perfect cheerleading uniform and have received more compliments than you can imagine.  My cheerleaders love them, feel amazing and are oh... so sparkly in competition.   The quality of our GK cheer uniform has exceeded my expectations and I could not be happier with the end result.  Thank you GK for making Midwest Storm Cheer look like the best in the business without breaking the bank!  We are so excited to show off these uniforms proudly!  Our gym has grown exceedingly in numbers and success, and now GK has helped us to look like it!  God Bless!"
